Fixing Stuff Around Yourself

I was sitting in our drawing-room, working on my Amal course when I came across this question of fixing something in my surroundings and my mind instantly went to this corner where I had stacked a lot of my stuff in hopes of working on it (books to be read and notebooks to be filled?). But, somehow everything got messed up over time and it presented an afterimage of a tom and jerry scene. I had had my cringe moments with it before but I had unconsciously been putting it off for some time.

So yes, I took it upon myself to get it back in shape (picture on the left). I got all the stuff lying on the side table and put everything where it was supposed to be in the first place. I put the books on the bookshelf (which can be seen in the first picture) and put the bags full of paper in the cupboard. However, I left The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People on the table, again in hopes that I will read it as soon as possible.
Seeing all the mess gone and the table all cleaned up gave me a sense of satisfaction but it has always been the process of clearing the mess up that I enjoy more. Even if it had not been for the Project Work, I would have cleaned it up because it is such a stress reliever for me. I might have done it some other time, but would have done it for sure. Because seeing it on daily basis I knew it was my responsibility to clear this space up and although no one put me in charge or assigned it to me, it still came inside my circle of influence. So, everyday leadership is very much about taking responsibility for your surroundings.
